Community Support Specialist

                                                                             

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or closely related field or at least four (4) years of relevant, qualifying full-time experience in social services.  Demonstrated skills in developing positive and productive client relationships and the ability to negotiate complex service systems to obtain needed services and resources for clients.  Must pass background check provided for the agency by the U.S. Department of Justice and the Family Care Safety Registry which includes the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Department of Social Services, Department of Mental Health and Department of Health and Senior Services.  Must not be on any “do not hire” list with the Department of Mental Health or the Missouri Division of Family Services. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

Works with or on behalf of clients in accordance with an individual rehabilitation plan to maximize the client’s adjustment and functioning with the community while promoting sobriety and recovery, promoting client independence and responsibility, and maximizing client involvement in the community and its support systems.  Must demonstrate highly developed verbal and written communication skills; demonstrate skill in clinical interviewing; demonstrate skills in consultation and the ability to work as part of a team, and the ability to interact with community agencies.  Must have a valid Missouri driver's license and reliable transportation.  Regular and consistent attendance is an essential job function.  Skilled in interacting positively with various community agencies.    

 

SUPERVISION:

This position is supervised and evaluated by: Director of Clinical Services or designee
